When and where will FolCon take place?
FolCon 2025 will take place from Wednesday, August 19 to Sunday, August 23 in the centre of Brno, Czech Republic. The Folcon base is YMCA Brno at Kounicova 3.
Where can I register for workshops and buy tickets?
You will be able to do both through our registration system where you can create a user account, order FolCon passes or accommodation and sign up for workshops (or cancel). You will also see your personal schedule here.
How much will it cost?
We strive to set fair prices and meet everyone’s needs. You can pay for even just one workshop, come for the evening parties only or get a Full Pass to have it all. Full Pass cost 3800 CZK last year, worskhops cost 200 CZK or 350 CZK.
Where can I stay?
We will have a few options that we can offer: sleeping in a students hostel or in a gym You can also find something by yourself. We recommend booking within walking distance to YMCA (Kounicova 3).
What language are the workshops and lectures in?
Workshops by Czech teachers will be in Czech or bilingual with English, in case they have international participants. Workshops of teachers from abroad will be in English. Some French might also happen (not without translation).
Who is organizing FolCon?
We are a team of people who have been involved in the cultural scene for a while. Most of us are on the leadership team of a dance group or community (Démáirt, Céilí Club, Feidh, Ton Simple…) or play in a band (Dálach, Gruagach). We have many years of experience in organizing events, teaching music or dance. We cooperate with YMCA Brno, under which some of our groups and societies operate. In addition to locals, you can also look forward to teachers invited from abroad.
Is it OK to come with my children?
Yes! We want to create a community for everyone, including families. Some parts of the programme will be child-oriented and our premises at YMCA Brno are adapted for the little ones.
